The menu button on the monitor works fine when the monitor is connected to my old computer via a VGA connection and I believe the menu button would work on the XPS if the computer recognized the monitor. I believe the rep is wrong because I think it is the computer that does not recognize the monitor. The Dell rep I talked to said my monitor is bad because it wouldn't recognize the computer and the menu button won't open the menu. And it doesn't work for activating the monitor. Lacking the lower horizontal panel of ports, I plugged my HDMI cable into the only HDMI port I have, the one on the left upper side of the tower. From what I've read, if my computer has a discrete video card the HDMI cable is supposed to be plugged into the HDMI slot on the horizontal panel, not the HDMI slot on the upper left part of the tower. I read online that the HDMI cable has to be plugged into the graphics card port, not into the HDMI slot on the upper part of the computer, where Dell told me to plug it in.
